    • A rare vintage "Ruhla" stainless steel wristwatch made in Germany and dating from the 1970's.
    • This is new / old shop stock and is in perfect condition and working well.
    • The hand wound 'electronically timed' movement ticks over as it should and the green and white dial is spotless.
    • The brushed stainless steel case measures a large 40 mm including the crown, and looks good on any size wrist, male or female.

The beginnings of Ruhla’s watch industry goes back to 1862. The company started with the production of door hinges and moved on to producing smaller, finer mechanical components.
In 1874 the company produced its first musical box, and in 1892, the world’s first mass manufactured pocket watch.

In 1978 Sigmund Jähn became the first German astronaut and on his first space mission he carried four Ruhla watches with him. Three of them were presents for his Russian colleagues, thus Ruhla watches also became the first German watches worn in outer space.
